72
Luke 10
Jesus appointed seventy-two others
and sent them ahead of Him
two by two
into every town and place
where He Himself was about to go.

He did not choose professionals.

He did not create an organization.

He did not map territories
or build infrastructure
or establish a headquarters.

He sent ordinary followers
into ordinary places
with peace.

They were told to go lightly.
To rely on God.
To stay where they were received.
To move on where they were not.
To trust that the harvest belonged to the Lord.

Somewhere along the way
we separated prayer from presence.
Belief from movement.
Faith from obedience.

We began to think that “going”
belonged to the gifted few.

But Jesus never said that.

Jesus had a Way.
He was the Way.
He told people to follow Him.
To do things His Way.
His Way was a discipleship path.
Following Him was to learn to become a disciple.
To disciple under Him was to mimic Him.
To mimic Him was to find His Way.

72 is not a program.
It's to disciple under Him. His Way.

72 is a return.

A return to the way Jesus took a follower and made him into a disciple.
Sending followers into everyday places.
Without pressure.
Without spectacle.
Without ownership.
They became disciples.

If you follow Jesus,
you are already invited.

You do not need permission.
You do not need a title.
You do not need to register.

Begin where you are.

Walk with peace.
Listen more than you speak.
Offer prayer when welcomed.
Return again.

The harvest is not yours to manage.
It never was.

The seventy-two returned with joy.

The same joy Paul mentioned 16x in one letter.
From prison.

The same joy Jesus promised.
Joy abundant, the fullness of joy, that your joy would be complete.
